Great bands have agendas, a set of rules they live by that don’t hinder their creativity, but sharpen their message, and always push them forward in a unified sound and image that their fans can buy into.
BandApp is built and run by musicians who know what its like to be in a band, and through BandApp we’ve formed a new gang with it’s own agenda. We want to put a stake in the ground so you know once you take the time to build your BandApp, we’re going to do everything we can to make it work hard you.
1. Push Things Forward.
Give bands, venues, djs and artists to tool to go harder, further.
Being in a band is hard work. Nobody is there in the sweaty arse crack of the practice rooms, you’re the one carrying flight cases up to a house party on the 56th floor, and nobody else showed any interest in driving to Corby for a gig they forgot to advertise at the Bollock & Helmet. We know about this cause we’ve been there, it’s long hours sub minimum wage, blisters, bust ear drums, and carrying stuff, but when it actually and finally happens, well that is just astonishing, and nothing comes close.
BandApp is not going to carry your drums for you, and we’re not going to sit cross legged on your amp and clap like a bitch after every song in your practice room, no, but we can make something’s a little bit easier, and we want to push bands, DJs and Artist further than they have ever gone before.
That’s why we’re here, every feature, every update and every idea we have for Band App is about empowering you the artist, to play to a wider audience, connect with a bigger community and to Be Louder.
2. Livin’ for Givin’
Not to take from our Artists unnecessarily.
BandApp is free, it’s free to build, free to distribute and you can create as many Apps as you like, and they’ll all be free. So build one for your band, build one for your experimental off-shoot project, and build one for the other version of your band that’s got all the same people in, except your annoying Singer. There’s no premium version, no usage restrictions and we only take the tiniest cut of every track sold. In fact the only way you could get it any free’er was if you were the band Free, and even then it’d still only be free. I think you catch my drift.
BandApp will be in an evolving state of development, so who knows what’s on the horizon, maybe we’ll add some premium skins or, non-standard functionality a bit later down the line, but one thing we’ll always guarantee is that any artist can make a BandApp for free, they’ll never be restricted by greedy upgrade costs, and our Apps will never be tarnished with ugly banner ads. It’s a simple idea, we want to keep it that way.
BandApp are not here to take from bands, we’re livin’ for givin’ and we want to throw our banjos down right now and say, trust us and together we could run this town.
3. Get Connected
Build a connected community and marketplace for Artists
Building an App is the easy bit, getting it to your fans is not difficult, but reaching a wider audience is where things start to get a little bit harder, that’s why we’ve built BandApp World. BAW is like Disney World, but there’s no height restrictions on anything and we’re not run by giant mice with high pitched voices, BAW is really run by you, it’s a community of Artists who can share music, plan tours, expose fans to new Artists and expand their audience by finding people who they know will dig their music.
The world has changed, you can’t throw 5 million squid at a crappy record anymore until everyone has bought it. People don’t want to be advertised at, if they want advertising at all, they want it on their terms, and that’s what BandApp does, it opens up opportunities for targeted connections with people that they can engage with. You never know, 6 months from you might find out your new demo is kicking off on Easter Island, book yourselves on a trip out there and be chased down the road like the Beatles. (And yes, I’ve just Googled it and there are some roads on Easter Island.)
Connecting Artists with fans is really important to BandApp because we know without this, nothing can happen, just don’t have a go at us if 400 Monks from Easter Island start turning up to all your shows and trashing the venues.
4. Be Louder
Keep making BandApp better by listening to our Artists
The best way to get heard is to ‘Be Louder’, we want BandApp to be the best, and for us, ‘being louder’ is about doing things better than everyone else. To make sure we’re always doing this we’re committed to listening to our Artists, now I know that sounds a little ‘ASDA’, but we mean it, BandApp ain’t worth a thing if you lot don’t like it, so for us ’Be Louder’ is our drive to make the best possible platform for you to do all the things you want BandApp to do.
BandApp will listen to your moans, your gripes, your inane babbles, even your slightly dubious political views, we’ll listen to stories about your ex, boring ‘during the tour’ stories, and 20 minute diatribes about valve amps, but most of all, we want to hear about your experience with BandApp, what’s working for you and what isn’t, and any ideas that you have to make things better, you never know, come up with something brilliant and you might even end up working with us.
BandApp are listening, in a non-sinister kind of way that isn’t creepy or stalkerish. We want to Be Louder, so you can Be Louder too.
