Bands You Need To Check Out

Lacey are a 4 piece alternative rock band from Nottingham. Formed in 2010 and bound by a love of early 2000’s Long Island music scene, Lacey quickly developed a sound derived from that same era, sprinkled with influences ranging from The Get Up Kids to Funeral For A Friend. Last year, Lacey embarked on tours supporting The Blackout and later on US punkers Patent Pending, as well as headlining the Red Room Stage at Hit The Deck Festival in Nottingham. Having released 3 EP’s to date, most recently ‘Outlaws’ in September 2013, the band began work on a full length debut album in January 2014.

The Mercy House

Described by Kerrang! Radio’s Alex Baker as a band possessing “killer riffs, monstrous vocals and more hooks than a slaughterhouse”, London’s powerhouse heavy-rock innovators The Mercy House are a band with more than just a lot to say. Following the 2012 release of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘A Broken State Of Bliss’, the band is now ready to launch new songs that have focused their collective ambition to a new level. From the beginning the band has raised eyebrows with powerful live shows across the length & breadth of the UK as well as in Europe. Their target is now to build on this reputation with more fierce shows and relentless touring to accompany the release of their follow up record.

Black Water Bride

Black Water Bride is out to show the full scope of what Louisiana music has to offer. They do so by mixing all of their various influences and experiences with a love of the state they call home. By mixing soulful, backroad, country vocals with the slow style of NOLA hard rock along with melody and pop hooks, they are at the forefront of what is being called the “Black Water Music Style”.

The 45s

The band was put together by new boy Tom Hamilton when he arrived at Nelson Thomlinson school near Carlisle as a 14 year old desperate to play in a real R&B band. Breaking onto the local music scene early in 2012 the band were an instant hit in the pubs and clubs of Cumbria and beyond. Their horizons have expanded greatly, playing sell out gigs in London, Brighton, Canvey and Lancashire, and things are set for a great 2014.

The Flip Flays

The Brighton 4-piece, The Flip Flays, have been forging their good time summery sound playing along the UK’s south coast since 2008. They released their debut EP, Beach Funk, at the start of 2011. The 5 track EP and latest release, double A-side High Definition/I Don’t Wanna Wake Up, introduced the bands unique brand of pop to world, with a sound that has been compared to Reef, Jason Mraz and Jellyfish. Their next EP has a planned release date of May 2014.
