The Blackout, The Subways, Reverend And The Makers & many more are confirmed to play alongside a wealth of new talent that showcases how incredibly healthy the UK’s rock scene is in 2014 as rock, indie and punk bands rub shoulders in what is certainly the music capital of London, Camden Town.
Freeze The Atlantic www.bandapp.com/freezetheatlantic
Since the band started in 2009, Freeze the Atlantic have seen 3 different vocalists and 2 different bassists. One would think these changes would destabilise a band’s motivation, but with version 4.0 of the band FTA are exactly where they want to be. With renewed vigour, 2014 sees the band release their second, self-titled album. With a new line-up, this album is heavier, smarter and more accomplished, that has brought fresh ideas and new elements to a refreshingly British sound.
MassMatiks are a four-piece alternative rock band from Surrey. The band themselves are a loud and infectious collective which is reflected both in their songs and live performances. Their music consists of catchy guitar hooks alongside a tight rhythm section, relatable lyrics and catchy melodies. Having only formed in 2013 the band has already supported accomplished acts, including The 1975, and their first release, ‘Independence (A Lack Of)’, was released as free download.
Two EP’s on, combining infectious pop music with jazz and indie overtones, ‘Signals.’ are already one of the most forward-thinking acts the UK currently has to offer. With BBC airplay and main-stage performances at two major festivals already under their belts, this math-pop quartet from the Isle of Wight are certainly ‘brewing up a storm’.
Strike It Zero www.bandapp.com/strikeitzero
